messes of dresses

on july 21st i had the pleasure of working with messes of dresses.com, an online boutique that was recently launched. over a 7-hour day we shot more than 10 looks inside the studio, as well as lookbook material for use on their site. sara and divi, the sisters behind messes of dresses, have got a great thing going, their fashion taste is impeccable and they are wonderful people. i enjoyed this shoot a lot since it gave me the opportunity to shoot both film and digital, using fuji astia colour positive film for the lookbook material. stay tuned for photos as well as a behind the scenes video!

shout out to the marvelous models, steph, kat and victoria as well as the styling team gala (make-up) and angelo (hair)!

upcoming work

new shoots coming up! first i’ll be shooting the lovely aurora v for zivity, followed by a test with zandrea, simply because she has a fantastic look ad she’d look great in my portfolio! aurora’s shoot will be outdoors, somewhere in central park, which i’m very excited about. nude women in nature is always an attractive motif.

zandrea’s shoot is based on a collection of black and white images i’ve found which all ended up having one thing in common: kate moss. totally coincidental, but a nice inspiration nonetheless. we’ll be shooting at her apartment.
early july will see the realization of a project with designer tony g alpha, it’ll be dark, it’ll be sexy, it’ll be gritty, and it’ll be amazing. we’ll begin scouting models in the next week or so.

new work coming up

after completing the first of a series of shoots with designers sarah aphrodite (http://www.sarahaphrodite.com) and brianna capozzi (http://www.briannacapozzi.com), i have my work cut out for me. over 1500 photos need to be sorted through and the best images retouched. a lot of great shots, and a few really stand-out shots that will grace my portfolio for a long time to come, i’m certain. i may have stumbled upon helmut newton’s secret to a great outdoor shoot: start with a great model, a clear blue mid-afternoon sky, and on-camera flash (in my case a metz mecablitz 54 mz-3 with the canon ettl adapter). the result is now visible on my gallery page.
we shot on several outdoor locations in long island city, queens. it’s always great to shoot outdoors, fresh air, sunshine, plenty of room to walk around and not get stuck in one place, and, of course, onlookers. the more gorgeous the model, the more comments you get from passersby, and it’s always amusing to see the reactions from fellow males. one particularly lucky fellow quickly found himself thrust into the middle of the shoot when the designers flagged him down. they loved his beautiful brand spanking new mustang gt convertible, and would he let us use it for our shoot. his response was an affirmative preceded by a four-letter word. so, to the kind fellow, thank you very much, and you’ll be getting some photos!
